COMMUNITY
For families, friends, neighbors, and communities navigating disagreements, shared decisions, and the sometimes messy business of living alongside one another.
That “love thy neighbor” thing, in practice.
-
When things get tangled between friends, family members, neighbors, or community members, it can be hard to find your way back to each other. I'll create a supportive space to have the conversations you've been avoiding, understand what's beneath the disagreement, and explore what repair might look like. Reconnection doesn't always mean returning to how things were.
-
Whether you're planning a neighborhood project, navigating a contentious decision, or gathering people around a shared concern, everyone deserves a meaningful opportunity to be heard. I'll help design and facilitate conversations that bring different perspectives into the room, make space for disagreement, and move groups toward decisions they can understand and stand behind.
-
Living together, working together, or simply sharing a space comes with its fair share of friction. Through practice groups, workshops, and shared agreements, we'll build skills for communicating across differences, creating agreements, and addressing tensions before they grow. The idea isn't to create a conflict-free community, but one that knows what to do when conflict shows up.
-
Sometimes the hardest part of a separation, move, property use decision, or land transition isn't the logistics. It's everything tied to them. I'll support conversations that acknowledge the relationships, histories, and emotions involved, helping people navigate change with greater clarity and care.
Building a culture of loving conflict and relationship care within a land- and tribally-guided organization.
HUṠWEJ is a Tribally-guided nonprofit created to carry forward the wishes, responsibilities, and long-term vision of the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe. Its mission is to preserve, protect, and perpetuate Nisenan Culture.
I facilitate an annual conflict practice group for tribal members and Yulića –their rematriated village – residents, and have served as a mediator on retainer. I also facilitate art making workshops that weave together material process with relational remembering.
This work creates opportunities to strengthen conflict skills, navigate differences with care, and bring greater intention to how people communicate and work together. Rather than treating conflict as something to address only when a problem arises, the practice makes room for ongoing learning and relationship tending.
